Taking care of GROWW

AnneGD@groww.org

Thank you to Thorneygates, one of our members, who made me aware of GoodSearch.  It’s another great way to raise money for GROWW and it won’t cost anyone a penny, how cool is that!

I already added the toolbar as my search engine, it was pretty simple, please give it a try, I plan to share this with everyone I know, I hope you will too.

Grief Recovery Online Widows and Widowers - GROWW  is now up and running on GoodSearch!

As you know, GoodSearch is a Yahoo-powered search engine with a unique mission – 50% of its advertising revenue, about a penny per search, is shared with the nonprofits selected by its users.  The more people use GoodSearch, the more money will be directed towards your cause. The sky is the limit!

Here's an example of how much GROWW can earn:

100 supporters search the internet just twice a day = $730/year

1,000 supporters search the internet just twice a day = $7300/year

While the press has done a great job in featuring GoodSearch, in order for GROWW to earn as much money as possible, it’s important that to spread the word to our members, friends and family.

What if GROWW earned a penny every time you searched the Internet?  Well, now we can!

GoodSearch.com is a new search engine that donates half its revenue, about a penny per search, to the charities its users designate.  You use it just as you would any search engine, and it’s powered by Yahoo!, so you get great results.

Just go to www.goodsearch.com and be sure to enter GROWW as the charity you want to support.  Just 500 of us searching four times a day will raise about $7300 in a year without anyone spending a dime!  And, be sure to spread the word!

Sensitivity

The sensitivity or insensitivity of a human, often considered with regard to a particular kind of stimulus, is the strength of the feeling it results in, in comparison with the strength of the stimulus. The concept applies to physical as well as emotional feeling.

Sensitivity

1. Rapid perception with the senses, reacting to small changes.

2. Reacting appropriately to the emotions or situation of other people, tactful.

3. Readily getting hurt or upset.

Insensitivity

1. Not reacting to the emotions or situation of other people or not caring about others, tactless.

The above certainly can be applied to grief.  When we are in a chat room, we have to remember some people are very sensitive and some people are insenstive to others.  Please try to remember everyone’s loss is THE WORSE that they are experiencing, we do NOT judge whose grief is worse, this isn’t a competition.  Let’s all remember every one’s feelings count and don’t say things like, oh well, they were old, age does not matter, death is death.  Let’s all try to remember to think before we press the enter key, would you want someone to minimize your loss, I think not.

Recipe

Here is the recipe for "Amish Chicken Cornbread Bake" that I mentioned in the

room Thursday night. This dish has a unique mixture in both the filling and

the crust that makes it delicious (to me at least). The recipe was in a local

newspaper and is the winning recipe for Martha White's National Cornbread

Contest for 2005.

AMISH CHICKEN CORNBREAD BAKE

FILLING:

1/2 Cup Butter

1/3 Cup All-purpose Flour

1 Cup Chicken Broth

1 Cup Heavy Cream

1/2 Teaspoon Black Pepper

2 Cups Cooked Chopped Chicken Breasts

4 ounces Sliced Mushrooms

1/2 Cup Dried Cranberries

1/3 Cup Shredded Parmesan Cheese

TOPPING:

15 ounce can of sweet potatoes (drained and mashed)

2 tablespoons Sugar

1 Egg

3 tablespoons Milk

6.5 ounce package of Martha White Extra Rich Buttermilk

Cornbread Creations

PRE-HEAT OVEN TO 400 DEGREES.

In a 10 1/2 inch cast iron skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Gradually

add flour, stirring until smooth. Cook for 1 more minute stirring

constantly. Gradually add chicken broth and heavy cream. Cook, stirring

constantly, until mixture thickens. Stir in black pepper. Add chopped

chicken, mushrooms, cranberries and cheese. Cook, stirring occasionally, until

mixture is hot (about 3 minutes). Reduce heat to low and prepare the TOPPING.

In a medium size bowl, combine sweet potatoes, sugar, egg, and milk. Stir

until smooth. Add cornbread mix and stir until well blended. Carefully spread

mixture evenly over the chicken mixture to cover as a crust.

Bake at 400 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes or until cornbread is golden and

chicken mixture is bubbly. Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes.

To serve .. cut crust, place on a plate and ladle chicken mixture over the top.

Hope y'all enjoy .... "BLoved" David
