mIRC Instructions for Hosts
Welcome
to the wonderful world of MIRC.
MIRC offers some quick and easy solutions for performing
our tasks. We have tried to cover the basics and provide
this as a reminder to the training sessions.
Many
of the functions are functional without your host clothes. You will need your host clothes to check IP's
and to expel members.
Check
a room for a list of members:
You may look to see who the
members are without entering the room.
Go
to channel folder
Click
on the name you wish to check
Click
on names
Go
to Parachat icon (at top of screen) and click on the icon. A list of names will appear.
Check
on a member's status: Whois will provide you with a members name, idle time and IP address.
You should do a "whois" on any new member that enters the
room. If there is a problem
with a member the IP and log should be sent to GROWW staff.
Highlight
members name
Right
click, highlight whois
Left
click
Go
to system icon at the top of your mIRC screen
Display
and review whois information
PC
and DCC: You may use either of these
for talking to members in pc either in the same room you are in
or in another room. Please
note: The members/host name must be exactly the way
it appears in the room.
If
you are in the same room just double click on the member's name. A separate box will
popup. Place your cursor
on the blank line of the window you wish to talk in.
Expelling
a member:
At
times a members name may freeze and we need to remove their name
so they can re-enter the room.
Any
member who is disrespectful, rude or inappropriate is NOT acceptable
at any time. IF the behavior
does not change with warnings please let the member know they
will be expelled. It is best to do this in pc. There are some cases where a staff person might
do it in the room.
Always
send Name, IP and log to GROWW staff.
Type
the name exactly the way it appears in the room.
Example: /expel
TedM
Alias: Many hosts use alias for greetings, and long messages
they frequently use. You
may save your alias in the small green box with /a. Sometimes when the room is getting out of control
and you want to slow the room down or get the focus off the subject we use
some of the general macros. Please
feel free to cut and paste of any of these into your alias folder.
Each
alias must be entered separately.
Select an identified word or letter for each alias.
Below are some examples that you may cut and paste if you
wish.
